Why We Exist

The Dinétah’K Podcast was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time of profound loss, disruption, and revelation for Indigenous communities. While serving on a school board, I witnessed firsthand the realities unfolding in our schools, communities, and across the Navajo Nation. I heard stories of systemic neglect, government decisions made without Indigenous voices, and the quiet suffering of Native American and Alaska Native peoples—stories rarely acknowledged beyond our own communities.

What became clear to me was not just the depth of these challenges, but how invisible Indigenous peoples remain in national and global conversations. Our struggles, our resilience, our leadership, and our humanity are often overlooked or misunderstood. The Dinétah’K Podcast emerged as a response to that silence—a space to speak openly about what is happening to Indigenous peoples, to address issues often ignored or excluded from mainstream narratives, and to preserve our voices for future generations.

Through the podcast, I interview Native leaders, artists, and influencers—people who have navigated challenges, achieved success, and now serve as role models. By sharing their journeys, we aim to inspire our own generation and the next, showing that no matter the hardships or circumstances, anything is possible.

At its heart, The Dinétah’K Podcast exists to tell the truth, amplify Indigenous voices, and create a lasting space where our stories are told by us, for us, and for the generations to come.
